Plot Summary
The movie begins with a trap involving a man named Troy, who has chains attached to his body parts. He has to rip them out before a bomb goes off, but he fails and dies. Detective Allison Kerry arrives at the scene and finds a message from Jigsaw, who is dying from cancer. She is then captured by Jigsaw's apprentice and placed in another trap, where she has to retrieve a key from a jar of acid to unlock a device that will crush her ribs. Meanwhile, Jigsaw is lying on a bed in an abandoned meatpacking plant, where he is being monitored by his apprentice Amanda Young, who was once a victim of his traps. Amanda brings Lynn to the plant and attaches a collar around her neck that is connected to Jigsaw's heart rate monitor. She tells Lynn that she has to keep Jigsaw alive until another victim named Jeff completes his test, or else the collar will detonate and kill her.
Jeff is a man who lost his son in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. He is obsessed with revenge and neglects his wife and daughter. He wakes up in a wooden box and finds a tape recorder that tells him he has to face three people who were involved in his son's death: the judge who gave the driver a light sentence, the witness who lied on the stand, and the driver himself. He has to decide whether to save them or let them die in various traps.
